Yamba is surrounded by Yuraygir National Park, the Clarence River, Pacific Ocean and rural land. The Yaegl people are traditional custodians of the coastal areas around Yamba, Iluka and Maclean.
In 2014 Yamba’s population was 7000, growing at 5% pa. Maclean is 21 km to the west, Grafton 60 km to the SW and Ballina 100 km to the north. The climate is moderate. Yamba has sporting and recreation groups, restaurants, eateries, cafes, primary schools, cinema, churches, swimming pools, golf course, bowling greens and a large deep-water marina. You can shop locally for just about anything. Yamba has an established small business and industry sector. The monthly open-air market is on the fourth Sunday at Ford Park. Yamba District Chamber of Commerce Inc meets on the first Monday of the month.
With beaches, fishing, bowls, golf, walking, horse riding, fine and casual dining and an ever increasing improvement in health, shopping, and other facilities, Yamba is not the place to sit around wondering how to fill in the days. Come visit you won’t be disappointed.
